We started camping last year when we purchased a travel trailer and while the travel trailer has a toilet, we wanted to have another toilet just in case since we have a family of five. Below is my real life Hike Crew Advanced Portable Toilet review.

While our travel trailer has a toilet, we were concerned because we have a five person family and the likelihood of more than one person needing to use the toilet at the same time was high based on our experience at home.
So, I did some research on the various portable toilets on the market. One type was battery powered and had an electronic flushing mechanism, but reviews noted that the flushing mechanism was prone to breaking down and the manufacturer did not sell a replacement part. As a result, you would have to just buy a new portable toilet. This toilet starts around $120. But, the negative reviews regarding the flushing mechanism issues steered me away from this type of toilet.
Another type was a bucket with a toilet seat on it. This was the cheapest type of portable toilet, starting price of $20. I didn’t consider this type of toilet because I wanted something that used water to flush and had a separate enclosed holding tank for waste to minimize odors.
So, I landed on Hike Crew Advanced Portable Toilet. It has a manual flushing mechanism and separate tanks for water and waste.

We’ve been using Hike Crew Advanced Portable Toilet on all of our camping trips for almost a year and haven’t had any issues with the manual flushing mechanism, leaks, smells or any other problems. We place the toilet in a pop up privacy tent, see picture below.
Our family of five uses it as a secondary toilet to our travel trailer toilet and we have not had any issues with running out of fresh water in the flush tank or filling up the waste holding tank on our 2-3 day camping trips. It’s also easy to empty and clean.
So, I would recommend Hike Crew Advanced Portable Toilet without any reservations. I’m very happy with my purchase! I hope that my real life Hike Crew Advanced Portable Toilet review was helpful!
